Windows manual VM-W

Search your music directly by song, artist or album and find its shelf location. Add media from the search screen; use the grouped menu for other tasks.

Windows: extract, start and update

Extract the complete Windows package into its own program folder. Start Musikregal.exe from that extracted folder, not from inside the ZIP. Keep all supplied program files together.

Before updating, save a full collection backup outside the program folder, close Musikregal and extract the complete new release. Then start its Musikregal.exe. Existing user data remains in %APPDATA%\Musikregal. Do not delete or move this folder; it also holds local settings and licence data.

The normal public 45-day demo also updates an activated installation. A matching stored activation remains valid; neither the trial nor the voice bonus restarts. Afterwards check the collection, visible version and licence status. A new Windows device may need its own matching activation.

Try it for 45 days

On a new demo installation, the 45-day Pro trial starts at first launch. The licence area shows the edition and remaining time. Updates, backups, restoration and deleting sample items do not restart it.

After expiry, only adding new media and printing/PDF are locked. Editing, deleting, queries, viewing, speech input and announcements, export and backups remain available. Your entered data is retained and can be used after purchasing Standard or Pro. A restore or merge that adds media requires permission to add.

Start empty or try 100 sample media

A fresh normal installation starts with an empty collection. When it is empty, VM-W explicitly asks: Try sample data? Your collection is empty. Would you like to load 100 fictional sample media? Before choosing, read the notice: The sample data can later be removed completely from the collection. The data you created yourself will remain unchanged. Choose Yes, load sample data or No, start empty. No samples are loaded without your consent.

The optional 100 examples are fictional: 20 each of CDs, records (LP), music cassettes (MC), MiniDiscs (MD) and open-reel tapes (TB). They contain no audio files and let you try searches, track lists, filters and exports. Existing collections, updates and restores are never automatically filled with sample data.

Delete demo data only removes every item marked as a sample, including edited samples. The sample data can later be removed completely from the collection. The data you created yourself will remain unchanged. Back up changes to samples first if needed. Deleted samples are not automatically added again on the next launch.

Updates, collection and activation

Before updating, save a full collection backup outside the program folder, close Musikregal and extract the complete new release. Then start its Musikregal.exe. Existing user data remains in %APPDATA%\Musikregal. Do not delete or move this folder; it also holds local settings and licence data.

The normal public 45-day demo also updates an activated installation. A matching stored activation remains valid; neither the trial nor the voice bonus restarts. Afterwards check the collection, visible version and licence status. A new Windows device may need its own matching activation.

Activation with LZM

Menu path: Menu → 2 → 2.3 → Activation. Under 2.3 System and licence, an activated edition shows Licence management; a trial shows Activation. A recognised full version does not offer first-time activation again. Licence status and importing an existing licence remain accessible.

Enter your first and last name in Activation; the email address is optional. Save request file creates an offline request for this device. Import the matching LZM response using Read licence file or Licence text and Activate now. VM-W validates the licence for this product and device. For this request, the licence issuer must use LZM with Musikregal support.

The trial period does not delete your saved media. A full backup protects your collection; it is not a licence key. Keep your own backups outside the app.

Start screen, music and licence notice

In Menu → 2 → 2.1 → Language and appearance → Start screen, choose ON/OFF, a whole-number duration from 5 to 10 seconds and music separately. Defaults are ON, 7 seconds and music ON. Colour initially follows the app. Save your own T palette choice: green, blue, red or anthracite with black, white or low-glare appearance, or a custom colour.

The original Bangert crest, VM-W and a black Technics SL-1210MK2 with a rotating platter appear. The locally generated Latin-rock guitar cue is an original composition. Only visible foreground time counts. Colour selection, pause, background and interruptions freeze time, platter and music. Resume uses the remaining time; Start, completion or OFF ends everything. Returning or rotating the device does not replay the introduction.

Active purchased Pro and Full version are ad-free. Paid VM-W Standard is not the free T Standard edition. Active paid VM-W editions display a copyright/licence notice on the first launch, then at the next new launch at least 14 days after acknowledgement. Understood – start Musikregal explicitly confirms it; it does not disappear automatically.

The start screen shows a black Technics SL-1210MK2 with a silver tonearm, controls and puck, red strobe lighting and a green pitch-zero indicator.

Demo, Standard, Pro and LZM activation

Purchased Standard and Pro editions are activated once and may be used indefinitely. There is no subscription. Standard's limited voice bonus is a separate entitlement. The 45-day Pro trial initially includes all features. Afterwards only adding new media and printing/PDF are locked; existing data can still be edited, deleted and queried. Voice, export and backups remain available in the expired demo. Purchasing preserves the existing collection.

Paid Standard enables collection features including adding and printing. Its one-time voice bonus lasts 30 days from the purchase date signed in the licence, even if unused. Reactivation, updates and restoration neither restart nor extend it. Once it expires, only Standard voice input/announcements are locked. Pro provides voice permanently within a valid licence.

In Activation, enter first and last names to create an offline LZM request; email is optional. Import the matching licence file or paste the text and choose Activate now. VM-W checks product, installation, signature and edition. Pro/Full rights cannot be downgraded to Standard. Existing V6 Full rights remain Full with voice after a compatible update. A data backup is not a licence key.

Confirm spoken cancellation with two taps

When the standalone spoken word “Abbruch” is recognised in any voice context—search, input fields, track dictation or guided entry—VM-W opens a dedicated confirmation. The word is not saved as a field value. Tap Cancel · 1 of 2, then Cancel now · 2 of 2. Only the second deliberate tap confirms voice cancellation. All eight app languages use the same German command “Abbruch”.

Other controls are blocked during this confirmation; one tap on the microphone or Stop cannot bypass the two-tap rule. Confirmation ends only the voice operation. Existing entries remain in the draft; nothing is saved, deleted or switched. Late recognition results are not inserted into another field.

Without a preceding spoken cancellation command, direct manual controls keep working as usual: one tap on the active microphone/Stop cancels immediately; one tap on the active announcement button stops speech. This is separate from the two taps after “Abbruch”. Allow Windows microphone access, choose the app language and check recognised text before saving.

Connect OneDrive through the Windows data folder

Menu path: Menu → 1 → 1.3 → OneDrive – synchronisation and backup. 1. Set up the Windows OneDrive client and sign into your Microsoft account there. 2. Create a Musikregal data folder inside your OneDrive folder. In Explorer choose Always keep on this device for that folder and wait until its files are fully available.

3. Open VM-W Settings → OneDrive – Sync and backup. Choose Connect OneDrive / Select data folder and select the prepared local OneDrive folder. 4. Use the same shared collection on participating devices. VM-W needs permission to read, write and rename in this folder.

5. Wait until OneDrive has finished syncing, enable synchronisation and inspect the preview. 6. Resolve every conflict and explicitly apply changes. Sync and OneDrive backup have separate switches and start OFF. Re-enabling triggers a comparison; VM-W applies changes only after your confirmation.

Local folder, cloud status and sign-in

VM-W works with your selected local folder. The Windows OneDrive client transports files to the cloud. Selecting an arbitrary local folder does not turn it into a cloud folder. Online-only placeholders must be downloaded before reading.

Manage your Microsoft username, password and multifactor sign-in in the OneDrive client. VM-W does not request your Microsoft password or offer a direct WebDAV password test here. Keep sync and backup off until the folder and cloud status are ready.

While OneDrive is still transferring files or reporting conflicts, wait before changing data and request a fresh preview afterwards. Successful local file access alone does not confirm upload to your Microsoft account. Check files and OneDrive status on both devices.

Merge data and resolve conflicts

Merge data reads a complete Musikregal backup and combines matching records by stable media IDs. Compartment and media numbers, leading zeros and original values are retained. CSV or partial JSON exports are not full backups for this import. Existing Discogs release details take priority over differing imported details.

The preview shows new, edited and deleted data. When the same field was changed, deliberately choose This device or the other/cloud version. Stored deletion markers prevent deleted records from silently returning through synchronisation. Resolve every conflict and tap Apply changes. Changes to local data, cloud contents, folder or permissions require a new preview.

Before every application, the complete current collection is backed up locally. Native permissions are checked again: merging cannot add locked new media. On failure or interruption, the last confirmed comparison basis is retained or restored. Licences, trial/bonus periods, credentials and device settings are excluded from shared collection data.

Dated cloud backups and local safety copies

Enable OneDrive backup separately and choose Back up now. VM-W writes a new dated backup and verifies it by reading it back. Earlier versions remain; an interrupted operation does not count as a successful backup. Cloud backups contain the collection, tracks, catalogue/release details and transferable print template. Native rights, periods, credentials and personal device settings stay local.

Choose a backup to inspect a dated cloud version before restoring. Local safety copies provides backups made before applications, even without cloud access. Read the preview and deliberately confirm. The previous complete collection is backed up first. Restoration replaces only the selected media types; Merge data combines it. Additional media require permission to add. For local restore, choose the file; for cloud restore, choose the dated version. The preview shows Media types in this file. ALL means all media types offered by that file; you can also choose any subset. Check the numbers of added, changed, deleted and unchanged items before applying.

Also keep a manual full backup outside the app. Selected-result exports, CSV and print/PDF are not full backups. A collection backup does not transfer or extend a licence. Check collection and status after every restoration.

Search and find

Choose All, CD, LP, MC, TB or MD. Enter a song, artist/band or album in the separate fields. Each field has a microphone; one completed field is enough.

Genre and year from/to narrow the search at the top. Results update as you type. Search can announce up to three locations. Check song, artist, album, compartment and media number.

New search and Open menu remain accessible at the bottom. The results list can scroll. Open a result to hear its shelf location or read further details.

Search indicates media without a track list; a song with no result may still be on one of them. Check album or artist if necessary. Album details remain original values; individual track details are shown in track fields. A missing or unknown year is not automatically derived from supplementary data.

Genres and styles

Open Genre / style on the search page. First choose a category such as Rock, then an available main genre or a style such as Krautrock. Select entire category includes all values assigned to that category. All genres clears the genre/style filter. Artist, album, track, media format and year range can still be combined.

The choices come from the current collection. Empty categories are not offered. Terms without a known category appear under Other / unassigned. Simple spelling variants are grouped for selection without changing the stored original values. A category may contain several genres or styles, and terms may belong to several categories.

When adding or editing media, main genres and styles remain separate fields. Separate multiple values with semicolons (;). Commas belong to the name; your own terms are allowed. Exports and full backups preserve both fields. The genre/style choice also applies when exporting the current search results. A full backup still contains the entire collection.

Statistics use the same categories as search. An album is counted at most once in each matching group. Because an album can have several genres and styles, the sum of the groups may exceed the number of albums. Media without genre and style information are shown separately.

Genres and styles

Add and edit your own media

Menu path: Menu → 1 → 1.1 → Add item. Open the menu and choose Add medium. Select the media type and complete the fields or use their microphones. Check artist, title and location carefully before saving. For every newly created CD or LP, explicitly enter a compartment and a CD/record number within it, including when using Discogs data. Saving is blocked until both are present. Adding details to existing media preserves its stored position.

Open a result and choose Edit. Use the Album, Location, Details and Track list tabs or Previous/Next. Update fields and save. Compartment and media number retain the meaning of your existing location values and determine the announcement.

Edit songs using separate fields. Position, title, artist and duration remain distinct; existing work/group names and additional metadata are retained during changes. Titles may contain |. Dictating and appending adds another title. The number of songs is not the number of physical media. Tap a song row to expand it. Work/group and release year are under More track details; Done collapses the row.

Open the entry and select Delete entry. Read both confirmation steps and tap deliberately at each step. Voice input cannot delete anything or trigger confirmations. Deleting an individual entry does not create an automatic backup; export a JSON backup beforehand if needed.

Choose which Discogs details to use

Existing original values take priority. Display, export and printing use the saved details unchanged; supplementary data do not automatically rewrite artist, album title, year, format or quantity, or fill missing original values in the background. Compartment numbers, media numbers, prefixes and leading zeros are retained.

Compare Discogs details shows Existing beside Discogs suggestion. For each differing field, choose Keep or Replace; Keep is always selected by default. Only Confirm selection applies explicitly chosen replacements. Compartment and media numbers are not part of this choice. If the entry has changed meanwhile, reopen the comparison.

An existing track list is replaced only if you explicitly select Replace for it and confirm. This replaces the entire list with the suggestion. Keep also preserves your own counter readings, sides and other track details. Linking alone does not automatically add or replace a track list. Cancel closes the comparison without applying changes.

MC, TB and MD

Menu path: Menu → 2 → 2.1 → MC / reel counter readings. 2.1 / MC / reel counter readings offers separate switches for MC and TB start counters. Both are off initially. CD, LP and MD have no such counter fields.

A start counter belongs to a song, and to its recorded side where applicable. It is optional and independent of duration and track number. Leading zeros remain intact: 000 is valid; blank means unknown. Turning the 2.1 / MC / reel counter readings option off hides values without deleting them. No conversion between devices or into running times is performed.

When adding or editing a tape, choose 4.75, 9.5, 19.05 or 38.1 cm/s (1 7/8, 3 3/4, 7 1/2 or 15 ips). Custom values from 4.75 to 38.1 cm/s are allowed. Blank means unknown. Speed belongs to the tape and appears in saved TB search results, including All, and relevant exports. Other media do not show this input field.

Backup and restore

A full backup includes the entire collection, track lists, settings, the enabled Discogs catalogue and release details. Search filters do not limit it. Hidden start-counter values and stored tape speeds are included. Finish saving in the Windows file dialog.

The backup area shows the last successful full backup and whether collection changes remain unprotected. Cancelled or failed saving does not count. CSV, PDF and JSON selections are not full backups.

Restore opens the Windows file picker for a full or partial backup. In the preview, choose All or the desired media types and check the changes. Confirm replacement in two steps. A complete safety backup of the current collection must first be saved successfully. Only chosen types are replaced; the others remain unchanged. Global settings are applied only from a full backup restored in full. Damaged or incompatible files are rejected before import.

Import a personal Excel correction file

Menu path: Menu → 1 → 1.3 → Backup and restore. First update the normal demo edition. No intermediate installation of the private full version is needed. If you have received a personal Excel correction file, select it through Backup and restore → Restore backup in the menu. This is a personal file and must not be published on a public website. The program update itself preserves the collection and does not append 100 demo items to an existing collection. Only the personal correction import replaces the confirmed old original fields.

Check the preview. Known import errors and missing media are handled selectively. Where your own core-field values differ, the saved value is shown beside the original Excel value. Keep is selected by default; you must explicitly choose Replace. Additional media of your own, track lists, counter readings, other supplementary details, settings and licence are retained. Catalogue and release details are included.

Back up and correct first creates an automatic backup of the current collection, then applies the confirmed correction. It takes effect without restarting. A correction file that does not match is rejected. The personal correction file contains no settings or licence and does not replace them.

One sorting choice for display, export and printing

The main list, export and printing share the same sorting. The default is compartment number, then media number (storage position), both numerically ascending: 2 before 10. All 15 columns can be sort criteria. Add up to 15 criteria as needed and choose ascending or descending for each. The arrows move a criterion together with its direction; any criterion except the last remaining one can be removed. Changes apply immediately everywhere. Default sorting restores compartment number and media number throughout with one click. Saved numbers, prefixes, leading zeros and search filters remain unchanged.

As soon as a track field is selected as a criterion, individual tracks are sorted across albums using all priorities. This includes track title, position, artist, duration and counter reading. Durations are compared as time; for counter readings, 0002 comes before 0010. Without a track criterion, the saved track sequence is retained within the sorted albums. Display, CSV and printing use the same track rows in the same order. JSON still contains the complete original albums and additionally describes the visible order using rows references.

A search in the track field limits track rows to matching tracks and also applies the artist filter. For an artist-only search in track mode, matching album artists retain their album tracks. Otherwise, compilations show only tracks with a matching track artist. When sorting by track, the required track columns are automatically included in the printout.

Export matching results

Menu path: Menu → 1 → 1.2 → Export selection. Open Export in the menu. Use the current search or adjust song, artist, album, medium, genre and year from/to. Check the result count and preview. All filtered results are exported; track lists are optional.

UTF-8 CSV is suitable for spreadsheets. A partial JSON export is for data exchange, not a full backup; it cannot be restored as a backup. The print list uses the Windows print dialogue, including PDF through an available print destination.

Print list and page header

Menu path: Menu → 1 → 1.2 → Print list. Open Print list in the export area and select Current results or Entire collection, portrait or landscape, table font and columns. Compartment number and media number remain the saved storage locations. Include tracks adds track rows; the track-search and artist rules below also apply to printing. Track sorting automatically outputs track rows.

Under Page header, choose or remove the left and right logos independently. PNG, JPEG and WebP files up to 5 MB are supported. Set the width of each logo. The centre contains four text lines; set each line’s text, font family, size, bold/italic, colour and alignment separately. Empty lines stay empty. The page header and column headings repeat on every page.

The print template is automatically saved with the settings and included in the full backup. Date, count and page numbers are optional. The preview shows the first page and the total number of pages and list rows. Check it after making changes. If a header or table row is too tall, the app tells you which settings you can reduce.

Print / PDF opens the Windows print dialog. Choose an available printer or Save as PDF and a destination. Use A4 and the portrait or landscape orientation chosen in the template. An open print dialog does not confirm a completed print job; check the outcome in the dialog or the saved PDF file.

Print list and page header

Exit and unsaved input

After collection changes since the last full backup, Quit offers three choices. Back up and quit closes VM-W only after a successful save. Quit without backup preserves saved entries but leaves the reminder active for next time. Cancellation or failure keeps VM-W open. With no unprotected collection changes, VM-W quits directly.

Back up and quit · Quit without backup · Cancel quitting

Leaving a changed draft with Back, Cancel or X asks before discarding it. Unchanged forms close without an extra prompt. Save adds the draft to the collection; a separate full backup is another step.

Language, microphone and offline use

The interface is available in German, English, Dutch, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and Greek. There are eight colour schemes. Titles and artist names are not translated when you change languages.

Allow microphone access the first time you use a voice function. Select your preferred app language in Settings. If speech is not recognised, check Windows's microphone permission, speech services and, if necessary, your internet connection.

The inventory, shelf locations and included track lists work offline. Optional cover images and external Discogs pages require internet access. Windows's speech service may also need a connection.

Limits of this demo

Automatic retrieval of missing Discogs details, an EAN scanner and playback of recorded collection tracks are not included. Sample data are not verified Discogs releases. The optional intro music is a short original instrumental composition.

If no results appear, select New search and start with a short term. Then check the medium, genre and year range. If saving or exporting fails, read the message and repeat the step. Do not close the Windows file dialogue prematurely.

Load Discogs data online and choose what to keep

Menu path: Menu → 1 → 1.1 → Load Discogs data online. First add new CDs and LPs to your Discogs collection yourself. In Musikregal, open Menu → 1 → 1.1 → Load Discogs data online. Musikregal reads release data; this feature does not write to Discogs or automatically add media to your local collection.

Enter your own Discogs username and, if needed, your own personal access token (PAT). Do not enter a Discogs password in this form. A personal access token does not require the app developer to register an OAuth application. Generate it in your Discogs account under Settings → Developers → Generate new token: https://www.discogs.com/settings/developers. Tap “Check and save access”. “Store the token encrypted on this device only” controls whether the token is saved for later requests. “Remove saved token” removes it again. The token field is cleared after the check, including on failure.

Your public Discogs username is stored locally. After checking account identity, an optionally saved personal token is encrypted using protected Windows storage. Saving is refused when that protection is unavailable. Tokens are excluded from data backups. Sign-in and acceptance with your own Discogs account still need testing on your computer.

You can first read the 50 releases most recently added to your own collection, then load further pages. Alternatively, look up an individual release by its release ID or Discogs link, or search by artist and title. Open the release details and review the preview before using any data. The buttons are “Load my collection”, “Load release” and “Search releases”; use “Next” for more results. “Check release” previews the selected release.

Explicitly choose whether to compare the release with existing media or prepare a new item in the editor. For every field that differs, choose separately whether to keep the current value or replace it. The existing location and track list are not changed silently. An existing item's position is preserved when you add details. For a new item, the editor starts with its storage location. Fictional samples are not offered as targets for Discogs data. Use a new draft for real new CDs/LPs; editing a sample does not turn it into your own item. Select the existing item and tap “Compare selected item”, or use “Create new item · enter compartment and number” to open a new draft.

Every new CD and every new LP requires an explicit compartment and CD/record number within that compartment before saving. If either value is missing, the new item cannot be saved. Check the other details in the editor too, and save only after making your choice. Creating new media requires permission to add items under the active licence.

If the same Discogs release ID is already stored locally, the release is identified as already present. This is not a general duplicate filter: different release IDs or entries without an ID may contain the same music and need your review.

Online cover display is initially off. Download a cover for an individual release with one deliberate tap. The image stays in the device's own offline app cache and can be used there without an internet connection. There is no automatic bulk download of all covers. “Download this cover locally” saves the selected cover permanently on this device. After your deliberate tap, “Download missing local covers” downloads missing images from existing cover URLs one by one. “Stop after this cover” stops after the current cover; saved images are retained. A Discogs rate limit stops the operation and shows how long to wait before starting again.

The original cover URL remains a data field. Binary image files are not automatically included in a OneDrive data backup. On a new device, or after the app cache has been lost, you may need to download selected covers again.

A direct online request sends the corresponding request to Discogs. This feature does not pass your own collection data or credentials to the app developer. Review the preview and your selection before each local transfer.

Back up and restore all or multiple media types

Menu path: Menu → 1 → 1.3 → Backup and restore. For local backups, open Menu → 1 → 1.3 → Backup and restore. Before a local or OneDrive backup, use Choose media types to select ALL or any combination of the CD, LP, MC, MD and TB checkboxes. For example, back up CD + LP + TB together. At least one type must be selected. Search filters do not select the backup scope.

A local full backup contains every media type and global settings. A partial backup contains only the chosen types and their related data. You can create a complete file and separate CD-only or LP-only files. Keep several dated backups outside the app. Only a successful full backup protects the complete collection.

Finish the Windows file dialog when saving locally. Check the saved filename and selected scope. A cancelled or failed save is not a successful backup. The normal customer Windows package contains no private collection; you import your own data separately from your own backup files.

Select media types independently in the OneDrive backup area. Cloud backup and synchronisation remain separate functions and are initially off. The accessible folder and your own access permission must work. Keep several dated cloud versions; selecting media types does not replace folder permission or synchronisation.

For local restore, choose the file; for cloud restore, choose the dated version. The preview shows Media types in this file. ALL means all media types offered by that file; you can also choose any subset. Check the numbers of added, changed, deleted and unchanged items before applying.

Restore replaces only the selected media types. All unselected types remain unchanged, including storage locations, track lists and additional unknown fields. If shared Discogs details differ, the current shared details are retained and the preview shows these conflicts. Restore does not silently merge all collections.

A complete safety backup of the current collection must succeed before changing it. Confirm the selected restore only after reviewing the preview. Cancellation, an incompatible file or a failed safety backup prevents applying the restore. Adding new items requires permission to add under the active licence.

Global app settings are applied only from a local full backup restored in full, if present. A full cloud restore with ALL applies only the transferable print template; personal language, colours and other device settings remain local. A partial backup or subset changes neither global settings nor the cloud print template. Discogs tokens and native licence rights are excluded. Cover URLs remain data fields; local image files are not automatically transferred to OneDrive or another device.

Choose Excel, CSV, JSON or PDF

Menu path: Menu → 1 → 1.2 → Export selection. Open Menu → Export selection. Check the search and result count. Excel (XLSX) creates a real workbook with overview, media and tracks sheets. The overview explains selection and sorting. Tables provide filters, frozen headers, readable columns and print settings. The workbook has no macros.

CSV is a UTF-8 table for suitable spreadsheet software. A JSON partial export contains Musikregal data for selective exchange; it does not replace a full backup. A suitable product-schema JSON file can be checked through Import data, not Restore backup. Song filters may limit visible track rows; check what media and tracks the file actually contains before importing.

Print / PDF opens the existing print list and Windows print dialog. Choose Save as PDF or a printer. PDF is an output format here; external PDFs cannot be imported as a collection. Check the preview and final file.

Pure compartment and media numbers appear as follows: 0 remains 0, 1–9 are shown as 01–09, and 10 upwards have no added zero. Stored locations are not rewritten. Prefixes and your own labels remain. MC/TB track counter values such as 000 are separate data and remain unchanged.

Import data with preview and individual decisions

Menu path: Menu → 1 → 1.1 → Import data. Open Menu → Import data (CSV / Excel / JSON). Select a suitable CSV table, supported XLSX workbook or Musikregal product-schema JSON file. An arbitrary external JSON file is not a valid import. XLS, XLSM and PDF are not supported by this workflow. Restore collection backups through Restore backup.

Check the loaded table. Map columns to appropriate Musikregal fields and inspect the preview. Artist, album, media type and location must fit together. Excel formulas, macros, external links and incompatible or damaged files are not executed or accepted blindly.

Decide each offered difference for existing media deliberately. Keep preserves the stored value; Replace requires your explicit choice. Missing fields or tracks are not instructions to delete existing data. The preview applies to the collection that was checked; repeat the check if the collection has changed.

New CDs and LPs explicitly require a compartment and their CD/record number inside it. Complete missing locations in the preview; a new applicable item cannot be applied without both values. Adding requires the existing licence right. A data file never expands or renews demo, Standard, Pro or full rights.

Only the explicit apply button changes the collection. A complete safety backup of the current collection must be saved successfully first. Cancellation, an invalid file, unresolved choices or a failed safety backup prevent application. Also retain your own dated full backups outside the app.

The partial JSON export is MusikregalSelection with schemaVersion 2. Musikregal backups with schemaVersion 1, 2 or 3 may also be used here as a source for deliberate merging, without replacing preferences or the shared catalogue. This differs from a selected restore. New media require artist, album title, compartment and media number. An occupied location prevents application. Several copies of one Discogs release are possible; release ID alone does not merge them into one item.

Enable the optional voice module

Menu path: Menu → 2 → 2.1 → Voice input and read-aloud. Open Menu → 2 → 2.1 → Voice input and speech and enable Voice module (goodie) when needed. The new local setting starts OFF and can be disabled again at any time. It covers voice input and speech; startup music retains its own switch.

The voice module is an extra with no entitlement to functionality. Recognition, Windows speech services, microphone permission, available languages and voices differ by device. Existing voice rights still apply: 45-day Pro demo, Standard’s one-time 30-day voice bonus, Pro or retained full rights.

Start a microphone deliberately and check recognised text before saving. Speech cannot replace deletion or confirmed data application. If VM-W recognises the standalone command Abbruch, it marks cancellation. Cancel · 1 of 2 and Cancel now · 2 of 2 confirm cancellation. The draft remains and is not saved by this operation.

Read development history at three lengths

Menu path: Menu → 2 → 2.2 → Development history. Open Help → Development history. Short gives the quick timeline, Overview covers major steps and Detailed provides more information. Choose the edition: VM is the Android app; VM-W is the separate Windows program.

The history describes the original idea of finding music and locations more easily and its development into search, editing, printing, backups and exchange. I in personal explanations refers to the developer. Preserved earlier versions are historical records, not a claim of new device acceptance.

VM-W continues the development of the earlier Windows editions. The history records the original idea, completed development steps and remaining practical beta checks. A program update does not automatically import a new Discogs collection; review each addition before applying it.

Media condition

Select P (Poor), F (Fair), G (Good), G+, VG, VG+, NM or M (Mint) when editing media. Details and CSV, XLSX and JSON exports include this condition.

Existing entries without a condition receive VG+ once. Your existing choices remain unchanged. The exact original collection is saved locally before migration.

Merge collections by file

Menu path: Menu → 1 → 1.3 → VM ↔ VM-W / WLAN. Open VM ↔ VM-W and save an exchange file. Read it on the other device, review additions, changes and deletions, then choose Back up and merge. Export the merged state back to the first device.

Each physical copy keeps its own identity, including several copies of one Discogs release. Additions from both devices survive. Choose Keep here or Use other for conflicting edits. A missing identity is not a deletion request.

Each data import creates a full local safety backup first. Stale previews are rejected. Licences, credentials and device settings are excluded. The file contains media, tracks and cover URLs, not local image-cache files. It is not a complete device backup.

Sync on the same Wi-Fi

Menu path: Menu → 1 → 1.3 → VM ↔ VM-W / WLAN. Connect Windows and Android to the same private Wi-Fi. Open VM ↔ VM-W on both. Start Wi-Fi on the PC; select the matching network address if several are available. Enter the displayed PC address and six-digit code on the phone. The session closes after ten minutes or Stop Wi-Fi.

Confirm the phone preview first, then review and confirm the PC preview. Additional PC changes return to the phone for review if needed. Unchanged return data is checked and acknowledged. Both sides finish only after the confirmed return exchange.

Collections are merged, never blindly replaced. Guest Wi-Fi, client isolation or Windows Firewall may block the connection; use file exchange then. Local HTTP uses a temporary pairing code; use your trusted private network.

Updates and documents

Menu path: Menu → 2 → 2.3 → Application update. VM checks https://www.be-edvsysteme.de/b-software/updates/vma.apk; VM-W checks https://www.be-edvsysteme.de/b-software/updates/vmw.zip. These target paths do not prove that a newer package has been published.

Android offers only a newer APK with the original package identity and signer. If required, allow this installation source for Musikregal and tap Install update again. Do not uninstall. VM-W checks the complete ZIP, backs up program and user data, closes and restarts after replacing the program. Existing rights and running trial periods remain.

Coat of arms and usage rights

At every Bangert crest, Coat of arms info opens the crest details and usage rights. On a computer, the notice appears after holding the pointer over the crest for about two seconds. Bangert-Software appears beneath the crest within its width.

The Bangert coat of arms identifies Bangert-Software programs. It is separate from the user’s club or federation logo.
